The Society's PLC- Style, Fashion, and Fad

When talking about the PLC, we also have to learn about the PLC trend of a product. They are also equally important as well. The three terms that describe it are style, fashion, and fad.

The first term is 'style'. Style is something that comes, goes, and then comes back again. You never know when it will hit the markets and when there will be a decline. If one style starts to fade away, then, of course, the new one will replace it. Society follows the style which they think is trending at the top. For the time a particular style prevails, consumers will have a special interest in it.

Two examples to know about a style society must have or is following are nail art and Kalamkari. Being stylish and following the trend is necessary to stay relevant in our society. One such trend was nail rt. All women in our society felt drawn to this and started following this style. But, this particular style is not completely gone. We still follow this and even try new styles introduced. This actually influenced the women in our society. And as consumers, we started trying this out more frequently.

Now, Kalamkari is an ancient style of hand painting in cotton using natural dyes. Once this style was introduced, the consumers were so eager to grab and own a Kalamkari material. Whether it be saree, frock, kurta, or churidar, this particular style was the first choice for a very long time. It is safe to say that this was a massive trend.  If there were any functions, or if it was casual, one person in this style is seen. But now its demand is so weak and it may come back again after a few years or so.

So as said, style stays for long and makes a mark to stay unique.

The second trend in PLC is fashion. It comes, remains in our society, and goes slowly. When a fashion trend is introduced to a market, it first starts attracting the consumers. In this way, they grow in the market. After that, they decline gradually. The fashion trend stays for a long time in our society. And usually, trends like such are introduced through an event, campaign, celebrities, or even through movies and shows. Later, this will start trending and consumers starts will follow the trends, and gradually it will stay in society with our daily life.

Fashion trends in dressing could be taken as an example of this. Traditional wear and casuals can be included. If it's the festive season, the trends in fashion will keep up with traditions and everyone rushes to get their favorites. And this trend goes down with time but comes back with new arrivals.

Now casuals are so common in our society. But the likeness to wear casuals is getting trendier day by day. Be it a wedding or any other function, people are more comfortable wearing casuals. They feel that this is more fashionable and simple. That's why this fashion trend continues to grab consumers even now. Through this, we can see a drift in the fashion trend in society.

The last trend in PLC to look upon is fad. This trend cannot be trusted. Why, do you ask? It comes and goes at the same pace. They will stay trending after getting introduced and this decreases as the freshness fades quickly. A quick sales growth can be noticed at first and this will definitely come down. This apparent quick 'trend' just helps in increasing the brand name or popularity of a brand.

The perfect example to consider this trend is fidget spinners and graffiti t-shirts. Once fidget spinners were introduced in the market, the consumers went crazy trying to get their hands on one. The target consumers for this gadget were kids. And at a time everyone used to have it with them. Now, this trend is unseen as it declined in the market. Even kids lost interest in playing with a spinner. As new gadgets replaced this toy, it disappeared from the market of trending products.

And the next one is graffiti t-shirts. I remember the madness that young customers had towards this trend. Actually the trend was famous dialogues and words that were written in regional language were printed on a t-shirt. Boys got more attracted to this and almost everyone had one such t-shirt with them. But after a period of time, it completely lost its market share. It just has gone out of the field.

Fad will have an impact in society for a short time. And consumers will follow this trend until it fades.

In a society, fashion will continue to stay for years. But style is the one trend that influences society the most. The consumers have the last say on whether a product will be a style, fashion, or fad in the market.
